Loss prevention and risk management are important concepts to businesses that provide a service to others. This is especially important to an oil company where a mistake or missed delivery can result in thousands of dollars in losses or damages. Our insurance company makes many recommendations for us to follow that affect our delivery policy and we appreciate your assistance and cooperation in helping us to follow these guidelines:
-
We will not send an oil truck out in dangerous driving conditions, up an unplowed or unsanded driveway, or outside of regular delivery hours.
-
We reserve the right to delay deliveries if conditions are unsafe.
-
Please keep your driveway clear of snow and ice and, if you are able, clear a path to your oil fill. Inspect the area approaching your fill pipe for sharp objects, low wires, yard tools or anything that could damage the hose or injure the deliveryman.
-
If you are a customer who calls for your oil, you must give us a few days notice so we may fit the delivery into our schedule. We suggest that you call when your gauge reads 1/4. This leaves you plenty in reserve and will easily accomodate our minimum delivery requirement of 150 gallons.
-
If you run out of oil during business hours and your furnace must be restarted, there is a restart fee of $20. If you run out of oil after hours or during bad weather, we will deliver 10 gallons of oil by van or 4-Wheel Drive vehicle for an $95 emergency fee.
-
When a customer calls for same day delivery, it almost always requires that we disrupt our usual delivery schedule. Customers who call and require same day delivery must be assessed a $25 fee because it makes us less efficient if we have to make deliveries in areas that we are not planning to go that day. There is no extra charge for requests made by 4 PM on the previous day. One good solution is to get onto a price protection program and get automatic delivery.
-
Unfortunately, with the economy in such poor condition and with so many customers declaring bankruptcy, it has become necessary for us to tighten up our credit policy to protect our business.
-
We cannot offer credit to new customers and must limit the balance for our current customers to $400. Customers who are not on a budget plan requesting a delivery will need to provide us with a valid credit card or cash payment before the delivery can be made. Please call our office to arrange to be on a budget plan.
